John Henry, a retired farmer and already established as a real estate broker, joined with Nat's past experience in banking, retail business, and real estate appraisal work to form the new business.

In September of 2001, Shaffer-Mixon and Associates added the auction business to their company becoming not only realtors but also auctioneers of acreage, residential, commercial and investment property, auctioneers of personal property, estates, general merchandise and business liquidations doing business throughout South Carolina, especially in Hampton, Beaufort, Jasper, Colleton and Allendale counties.
